Kelsey’s paintings stem from an intuitive spiritual guidance. In her processes she contemplates the human experience, reflecting the seen, and unseen.
Kelsey graduated with a BA in studio art: Painting at Wells College in New York’s Finger Lake Region. During undergrad she studied under various artists for a year in Paris, France as well as working in the visual and design departments at Mac Kenzie-Childs. In addition to painting, she possesses a strong background in visual/interior design and photography. After graduation Kelsey moved to New York City where she painted while receiving her masters in special education and taught full time as a High-School special education teacher. Kelsey now resides in Upstate New York where she works as an artist and realtor.
A young breast cancer survivor (diagnosed December 2020) her recent work delves into spiritual awakenings, and experienced ‘dark nights of the soul’. Her paintings feel peaceful, atmospheric and slightly surrealist. In her work, Kelsey challenges systemic structures and traditional religion with a subtle, light-hearted commentary. Her work evokes emotions in its viewers, who get lost in its presence.
